What
is microcredit?
A
microcredit loan is a small business loan to an aspiring entrepreneur
in a developing country. In many countries, Traditional lenders
are often unable or unwilling to lend when people have little
or no collateral. The credit aspect of microcredit implies loan
repayment which builds self-esteem & self-reliance; it’s
a hand up, not a handout.
Build Capacity, not Dependency!
The
benefits of microcredit are far-reaching. Microcredit engages
the entrepreneurial spirit, promotes self-sustaining development,
encourages education and training and, ultimately, reduces vulnerability
to radicalism.
